My Theory Behind The Mindset Of Serial Low-rating Reviewers

My brother showed me a screenshot of one of his friend’s Facebook feed, and I saw that Amazon advertised my How to Become an Email Titan book.

No complaints from me. Why wouldn’t I want free advertising?

Then he decided to check up on my Amazon listing, and told me something interesting.

I received my first star rating from an anonymous person.

Two stars!

So what are my personal thoughts on this?

Personally, I couldn’t care less. I said this before and I’ll say it again. I don’t trust people’s reviews anymore mainly because they don’t know how to properly review something.

If they give a poor review, it’s either a minor thing that bothers them at an abnormally extreme level, or it’s something else that’s their own fault.

When it comes to information products, people give bad reviews for one of the following reasons:

1. “I already know the information,” or “There’s only basic level information.”

Two things. Knowing the information is one thing, but are you actually using it? And if someone is saying that latter quote as if they’re expecting new or advanced information, then they’re the type of people who just want to consume new information for the sake of getting the dopamine rush.

2. “I can find all this information online.”

By that reasoning, then every single information product out there should be given a terrible rating. And to be honest, that’s just the nature of the Internet marketing industry. Everyone teaches the same information but in their own unique ways. You can spend endless hours searching for the same information online, or you can save yourself time and invest in a product. Like one of my former business mentors once told me, “People buy products more so for convenience nowadays.”

3. “The product has sales pitches.”

So what? If the information itself is useful and it helps you make more money, why should you care? Plus, there’s something called “back-end offers.” If you’re investing in marketing products (Especially marketing, Internet marketing, and any other related fields), then this is something you should already expect. It’s an essential strategy when it comes to marketing.

There are many other reasons, but I’m willing to bet my left kidney that the person who gave my book a two star rating did it because of one of the reasons above.

I’m also willing to bet that he or she will never go near me, my business, and my future products again. And to that, I say fine by me.

I don’t want to deal with people with that type of mindset anyways.

To end off, I’ll say thank you for the two star review and for making my life easier by giving me one less pain-in-the-behind person to deal with.
